Limit Poker Games

Each casino gambling has lots of versions of rules, like how to play blackjack or poker, and they have something in common like poker and roulette bets are almost the same for all games. Usually all poker game versions come in three forms: Pot Limit (or PL), Fixed Limit (or FL) and No Limit (or NL). The type of the game in fact stands for its betting structure which determines the amount each poker players may bet in every round of betting.

Fixed Limit

In the fixed limit poker games the raise and bet are limited and this is always shown by the game name. For example, in $5/$10 Fixed Hold’em game the raises and bets size during the first rounds can’t go beyond the $5 size and in the last rounds the betting limit is $10. Some of the fixed limit poker games set the certain number of raises in betting round, which is also known as “the cap”. Usually the quantity of raises is limited to three, that’s why the bet can be raised three times in the round. In the last poker rounds of betting the cap is usually increased (up to five).

Poker games with the fixed limit structure are viewed as very secure as it is difficult to lose all money at once because of the betting limits. So fixed limit poker game variations are mostly popular among the novices.

Pot Limit

In pot limit poker games the players regardless how much they are to call can bet or raise the amount that is equal to the size of the whole pot. Usually the lowest wager in pot limit games is the size of big blind and every bet is allowed to be raised just by the sum which is equal or higher than the previous raise. Thus, the bet sizes in pot limit game variations are quite high in the final rounds of betting that’s why pot limit poker games are not counted to be so secure as the fixed limit type. Additionally, there are no caps in poker with the pot limit betting structure.

No Limit

In no limit poker games there are no any betting limits. The gamblers can wager up to all the money they have in bankroll at once. Though there are no maximum limits like in all other games the min possible betting amount is set by the specific rules. The raises sizes in no limit poker games are to be the same or higher than the previous raise and there are no any caps. In no limit game variations each gambler may wager all his/her money by ”all in” option and in such case the side pot is to be formed. The player who has the strongest hand gets the main pot (together with his/her all-in bet) and the next best gambler is awarded the side pot.
